They were reproved for their irregular marriage, were exhorted and taken engaged to live together as marry'd persons. They paid the proclaimation dues and gave a shilling to the poor. Their marriage was ordered to be recorded in the Register of Marriages. The woman (Helen Penman) was ordered to procure a testimonial from the parish of Newbattle where she resided some time.
