Notes |
- He served in the Second Boer War 1899-1902 and was at the relief of Ladysmith. He firstly joined the militia Royal Leicester Regiment, 3rd battalion. Then he transferred to the Royal Artillery in which he served 1898-1910. R/A 30921. His mother Sarah is supposed to have brought him out of the Army for £20. Whilst in South Africa, the troops were so hungry that Frank is supposed to have killed a goat to eat, he got in trouble for it.
He invented the 'safety razor strap' but was conned out of his share of the money when he went into partnership with a Harry Yates.
He played bowls and billiards at the British Legion. He may have been Champion of Billiards.
- (Medical):According to his daughter Olive, the family had just returned from a holiday when he fell ill which led to his death.
