  Notes	Q/11/1/184/21  1737 Easter-  Petition of Miles Brockbank, now a debtor in the Gaol - rise in allowance. His present 8d. a week is not enough for self and family. He is now infirm. Is gaoled for his debt to Henry Todd, gent.; has been there several years now. His 8d. a week withdrawn. (Cumbria Archive Centre, Carlisle) Q/11/1/185/28 Petition of Myles Brockbank of Millom, debtor in the Gaol - the County allowance. Has been in there a long time, and had 8d. a week allowance till it was withdrawn after "some false pretension by another", and since then he has had to depend on "the endeavours of his wife by labouring with her hands", though she is "an Infirm woman and very unable to Support herself". This is well known throughout the Gaol. Certificate signed by ten persons several of them currently prisoners in the Gaol to the truth of this petition, at foot. Nil.
