    Court:
    London Standard 17 February 1838
    POLICE
    HATTON GARDEN
Yesterday Charlotte Wilson, aged 15, was charged by her own mother, a widow, residing at No.7, George-Street, Pentonville, with having robbed her of various articles of wearing apparel.
The mother, with tears in her eyes, stated that the prisoner was a most hardened girl, and had repeatedly plundered her and pledged the property. She received her back again under a promise of amendment, and declined prosecuting her, but she joined some of her bad companions and again robbed her.
Mr. Rogers asked her whether she intended prosecuting her?
The mother, convulsed with grief, hesitated, and said it was hard for her to prosecute her child, but her own protection and the prisoner's welfare demanded that something should be done.
Mr. Rogers lectured the prisoner on the impropriety of her conduct, but she listened to him with the most hardened leviety, and no impression could be made on her. He inquired whether the pawnbrokers with whom she pledged the property were in attendance?
The constable replied in the negative.
Mr. Rogers, addressing the mother, said that he would remand the prisoner until next Wednesday, and if she (the mother) attended on that day, he would feel himself bound to commit the prisoner for trial.
The prisoner skipped from the bar carelessly, whilst her mother was deeply affected.
